The Administration's Indefensible Hike in the "Social Cost of Carbon"

The Administration recently raised the “Social Cost of Carbon” (SCC), an estimate of the net damages caused by a hypothetical ton of dreaded carbon dioxide emissions, in complete contravention to a plethora of recent scientific findings on global warming. In response, Landmark Legal Foundation petitioned for reconsideration, and Cato scientists have filed an extensive commentary in support. We found that up-to-date science would result in a lower, and probably inconsequential, social cost.
