Hank Aaron's grandson fires back at Kelly Loeffler's tweet about the MLB All-Star game

April 3, 2021 in Blogs

By Meaghan Ellis

Hank Aaron’s grandson was not pleased with former Sen. Kelly Loeffler’s (R-Ga.) recent remarks about the relocation of the MLB All-Star game amid Georgia lawmakers’ passing a series of highly restrictive voting bills.

On Friday, April 2, Loeffler took to Twitter with a statement criticizing MLB for relocating the game as she sounded off on the so-called “woke disinformation campaign of the Left.”

Loeffler also feigned concern about the possibility of the former Milwaukee Braves legend not being honored due to the game being relocated while disregarding the reason for the decision.

“The @MLB had the chance to honor an iconic trailblazer and @Braves legend Hank Aaron,” Loeffler tweeted along with an photo of her full statement. “Instead, they bowed to the woke disinformation campaign of the Left – to the detriment of hardworking Georgians and small businesses.”

“The @MLB had the chance to honor an iconic trailblazer and @Braves legend Hank Aaron,” Loeffler tweeted along with her statement. “Instead, they bowed to the woke disinformation campaign of the Left – to the detriment of hardworking Georgians and small businesses.”

In response to Loeffler’s remarks, the baseball legend’s grandson Raynal Aaron fired back asking the former lawmaker to refrain from even uttering his grandfather’s name. He tweeted, “Please keep my grandfather’s name out of your mouth.”

Aaron’s tweet comes just days after his interview with The Atlantic amid the all-star game controversy. When asked how he believes his grandfather would have reacted to the latest controversy, he emphasized that his grandfather was a man of peace.

“He would try to find a peaceful way around the situation before it escalated, and I know he would say baseball needs to try to do something to help and educate more people about the situation,” Aaron said in the interview. “But I know he would be very disappointed.”

As of Saturday, April 3, it is still unclear where the July 13 game will be moved to. However, according to USA Today, there are a number of cities that could host the game on such short notice. …read more

Here's why the evangelical church could play a big role in ending the pandemic

April 3, 2021 in Blogs

By Meaghan Ellis

As the availability of the COVID vaccine increases, public health officials are still faced with one big challenge: convincing the American public of its safety. However, a report highlights one possible pathway that can lead to the end of the pandemic.

According to CBS News, the evangelical church could play a major role in ending the pandemic. The publication highlights a project dubbed Christians and the Vaccine developed by Curtis Chang, a former senior pastor who now serves as a consulting professor at the Duke Divinity.

During a phone interview with the publication, Chang noted how he believes the evangelical church could be a “pathway to ending the pandemic runs through the evangelical church.”

“The message I’ve been trying to get to secular public health officials is very simple — it’s that the pathway to ending the pandemic runs through the evangelical church. I mean, it’s just undeniable statistically,” Chang said in a phone interview with CBS News. “And public health has got to start investing resources and energy to equip evangelicals to be the ones out there trying to convince their fellow brothers and sisters.”

The publication also highlights the results of a recent Pew Research Center survey which found that evangelical Christians are among the least likely to consider taking the COVID-19 vaccine.

An excerpt from the report reads:

Understanding why that is, and encouraging those who might be persuadable, could save lives as the country works to reach herd immunity, which Fauci estimates will requires 70% to 90% of the population to be vaccinated. So far, roughly 17% of the U.S. population is fully vaccinated.

Evangelical leader Franklin Graham’s recent remarks were also highlighted as an example of the influence leaders could likely have on their congregations and followers. During an interview with CBS News, Graham admitted that he believes Jesus would want people to get the vaccine as it could save lives.

To support his beliefs, the widely known religious leader turned to biblical context as he recalled the parable of the Good Samaritan. However, the publication notes that the case would likely need to be well-explained if the ultimate goal is to persuade evangelicals of vaccine safetiness.

“Jesus does tell the story of a man that was beaten and robbed and left for dead on the side of a road, and religious leaders walked past him and did not have …read more

Asian man viciously assaulted in Central Park during 'unprovoked' attack

April 3, 2021 in Blogs

By Meaghan Ellis

Another vicious attack on an Asian-American has occurred. This time a victim was viciously assaulted in New York City’s Central Park during an unprovoked attack, witnesses have revealed.

According to ABC7, an Asian-American man was attacked in the park in broad daylight while walking through the park with his wife and five-year-old son. The attack reportedly took place around 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 27 when the couple was approached by the Hernshead Rocks.

During an interview with the news outlet, the victim, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, recalled the moments leading up to the attack.

“You can tell that something just wasn’t right,” the victim, who did not want to be identified, told ABC 7. “He was sorta pacing back and forth through this area and he was just kind of muttering to himself…. He started coming closer to my wife and my 5-year-old son, and I could tell he was whispering something into her ear.”

The comments were reportedly inappropriate and “sexual in nature,” according to The New York Post. As the male suspect came closer to the couple, they attempted to back away from him but he continued to come closer.

“Now he’s really in my face and I asked him really politely, ‘Hey let’s practice social distance, you don’t have a mask on, it’s a pretty big park, let’s practice social distance,’” he said. “And then he muttered something to me and said, well, ‘You got a mask. That’s an advantage.’ And then he mentioned ‘You guys always have the advantage.’”

That’s when the suspect sucker-punched the victim.

“I was seeing stars for a bit, but my first concern was for my family, I want to make sure they get to safety,” the victim told the station. “I thought it was sweat, but at that point there was just blood running down my face, like profusely. And I felt my face temporarily and it just felt like it was completely dislodged.”

The victim also said that he is still unsure whether he was the attack was racially motivated as the city faces an influx of violence against Asian-Americans.

“It’s hard to tell if this was motivated by race,” the victim told the outlet. “However, we believe that we were targeted, and whether it’s through the fetishes of Asian women in general and sort of the stereotypes they carry, we believe that it’s worth …read more
